Ola Brazilians. Kaizer Chiefs may have been the ones to claim the R8 million price tag, but we are the team that has invested our money wisely and it shows in our wage bill.
I first have to warn you not to quote me on this, but his is just a rough idea on who is earning what.
Patrice Motsepe has designed our club like that of Barcelona, and it is a commendable effort on his part. With his money put into Sundowns equating to just a cup of water extracted from a pool of his fortune, Motsepe is trying to build a team of success and riches.
As we know, Barcelona spend money and win titles, Real Madrid did the same last season, while Paris Saint-Germain are known for the fortunes splurged, and have also run out successful.
As we can see, there is nothing wrong with the game plan of these Europeans. Money put out is success brought in and that was certainly the case of our lads last season.
Here are some of the salaries our players earn:
Elias Pelembe - R480 000 per month
Teko Modise- R350 000 per month
Keagan Dolly(when he arrives) – R150 000 per month
Pitso Mosimane– R800 000 per month
These are some astronomical fees and when Katlego Mphela was at the club, he was said to be earning R350 000 per month.
On average, most players are said to be earning from R1.5- 2million annually, while a few sit in the bracket of R3 million a year. And after having won R10 million for our title success last term, some of the ‘big shots’ were given an even bigger increase.
Sundowns have been criticized from here to no end about how we spend money, but we have spent it wisely. And if it continues to bring us silverware, then I fail to see no problem with how much our boys are earning.
What do you think, are our players overpaid or are they getting enough after having won the Absa Premiership title?
