Yes, our boy Cuthbert Malajila has silently gone about his business this season and not many have paid attention to the red hot from he is in at the moment. Malajila has scored 10 and created nine in all competitions for Mamelodi Sundowns and one would think that his goal tally stems from a set target… but that is not the case.
In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, the striker explains that his form this season is only a result of hard work and nothing else.
“I am not the kind of player who sets targets on how many goals I want to score. My target is hard work. I just want to keep working hard and helping the team achieve its goals,” Malajila said.
He further mentioned that despite many feeling optimistic about him winning the top goal scorer award at the end of the season, it’s not something on his mind.
“People have been asking me about the Top Goalscorers award, but that’s not what I am thinking now, I just to keep working hard and only time will tell,” he added.
Reflecting on his sentiments, is this the right way to go about things, to not add pressure on oneself in such a competitive environment? It’s definitely working for Malajila.
