With the news being confirmed that winger Daine Klate has left Orlando Pirates for former club SuperSport United, one can only but think of the stars that could possibly pick up the illustrious baton left by Matatazela.
Having said that, has Klate now left the door open for the mercurial talent of Thabo Qalinge to shine at Pirates?
In his own right, Klate has owned the left flank for Bucs ever since he arrived at Mayfair and has been one of the first names on the team sheet for any coach that was in charge of the club at the time. Known for his pin-point crosses and innovative ways of managing to get the ball into the box, Klate’s contribution to Bucs' traditional wing play will never go unnoticed.
Much like Klate, Qalinge is also known to possess a wide array of tricks and flicks, not to mention a serious amount of pace to get to the byline, cut inside or cause havoc on the edge of the penalty area.
We may have not seen much of Qalinge this season, however, his cameo’s off the bench this season have provided ample evidence of the boy’s talent, and he could become one of the best players in the country if he sets his mind to it.
Having said that, will Klate’s departure mean Qalinge will finally get his chance to shine?
