Kaizer Chiefs have had an entertaining season filled with many interesting stories, but what would their movie titles be? Today, I look at Amakhosi’s season thus far in movie titles...
Runaway Train – 19 Games Unbeaten
Arguably the title most fitting for Chiefs this season is ‘Runaway Train’. Stuart Baxter’s men dominated the footballing scene as they went on an unstoppable run of 19 games unbeaten.
Side Effects – New Year Turnaround
Chiefs’ slip at the turn of the New Year saw them hand the title to Mamelodi Sundowns, despite topping the table for a large portion of last season. Many fear that the same thing will occur after their bad start to this year, as Chiefs have been far from convincing. Could this perhaps by a side effect to last season?
The Gatekeepers – Khune Or Khuzwayo?
One of the main talking points with season has been the goalkeeper (i.e. the gatekeepers) debate between Itumeleng Khune and Brilliant Khuzwayo. Baxter has had to play with both shot-stoppers this season and as we reach the conclusion of the campaign, fans are still divided on which gatekeeper to choose.
Parker – Die Hond
This movie is about a man who undergoes a heist and has his crew betray him. While this may not be exactly related to Bernard Parker, the striker certainly starts every season looking to steal goals from his opponents. Unfortunately, this heist of his isn’t working too well and one would say his goal-scoring boots have betrayed him.
Edward Scissor Hands – Siyabonga Nkosi
The award for one of the most entertaining reasons why a player has not been allowed on a field goes to Siyabonga Nkosi. The veteran was denied access onto the field against Bidvest Wits earlier this season due to his nails being too long. Edward Scissor Hands anyone?
What other movie titles can you link with Chiefs?
