It is no secret that Pitso Mosimane is a character… He is not afraid to speak his mind and often he does it on live television - much like Chelsea’s Special One, Jose Mourinho.
Jingles, as he is known in local football circles, has often had to pay fines handed to him by the PSL’s Disciplinary Commission for the statements and heated actions during and after matches.
In fact, his charismatic post-match interviews have been linked to a soap opera cum comedy and many people look forward to what he has to say, more than the game.
On Wednesday evening, after the 5-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic, I found myself running to the TV in hope of catching a melodramatic and over-the-top interview from him. However, he took the defeat on the chin, and was impressively professional and calm during his interview.
My reaction has since sparked discussions between myself and my friends that Pitso is like the South African version of Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese is equally famous for saying what he wants no matter the consequences and has also been on the receiving end of fines by the English Football Federations.
In fact, both coaches can be deemed ‘The Special One’ in their own right, purely based on their assertive personalities.
Do you think Pitso can be likened to Mourinho in this sense?
