Hello fellow Buccaneers! Foppe de Haan has once again been linked to Orlando Pirates, with talk suggesting he could be brought on as a mentor at the club.
The Siya crew broke the news that the Dutchman was invited by Bucs management to attend several sessions with the club while Vladimir Vermezovic was in charge, and it has since been speculated that De Haan could join Pirates’ pay-roll.
De Haan is no stranger to the South African game, having coached Ajax Cape Town to a runners-up finish in the league four years ago, while he is also currently working with SuperSport United on an ad-hoc basis.
His expertise in Mzansi’s game is nothing short of excellent and efficient, and he could very well be the right man to provide insight to Eric Tinkler and his assistants.
Foppe was known for the revolutionary European style of play he implemented with a young and talented Ajax Cape Town squad, and Pirates will be hoping that the 71-year-old will be able to do the same thing for the Bucs.
Here is De Haan’s record:
Earned promotion to the Eredivisie
Second place finish in Eredivisie
U21 Holland NT
Won the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship
Won the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship
Ajax Cape Town
Second place finish in 2010/11
The former Heerenveen legend’s record speaks for itself and he would certainly add some value to the team should he arrive.
Personally, I believe he will provide great insight into the squad and his presence can only but benefit Tinkler and company…
What are your thoughts on having him join the club?
