Good morning Khosi fans. Siboniso Gaxa has been a valiant servant to Chiefs for many seasons, but this season he is looking short of pace and consistency… Is his time up?
The full-back has largely been considered the weakest link in the Chiefs backline this season by the fans, and that has held true since the turn of the New Year.
Gaxa was largely to blame for the goal conceded against Maritzburg United on Wednesday evening. The traditional right-back, who was moved over to the left, failed to mark Khumbulani Banda properly and it resulted in the goal.
In the 2-0 defeat to SuperSport United, Gaxa also looked out of sorts and he was seen losing possession on a regular basis, something which ultimately impacted the team.
It is already a risk putting a right-footed player on the opposite flank and it did not work out against SuperSport United or Maritzburg… Surely Stuart Baxter should rethink playing him there?
If the English coach continues to play Gaxa on the left, it could very well cost the team, as well as hurt Gaxa's form even more.
The team signed Simphiwe Mtsweni for a reason. He should be playing on the left flank if they need players for that position… Not Gaxa.
Khosi fans, what are your thoughts on this situation?
