Daine Klate, after being an influential member of the Orlando Pirates set-up ever since he joined the club in 2010, decided to call it time at Mayfair and returned to SuperSport United, the club which moulded Matatazela in becoming one of the country’s best players.
With Klate now gone, how could Bucs move on and benefit from the winger's exit?
After winning many trophies during his time at SSU, Klate showed no signs of slowing his role in terms of wanting to win more silverware. Many claimed that he was a player who was at the right clubs at the right times, after winning the league three times in a row with Matsatsantsa, before a double treble with Pirates. However Klate managed to improve as a player year in and year out, and this is something many youngsters at Bucs can learn from. Klate also proved to be one of many leaders within a team.
Senzo Meyiwa, Lucky Lekgwathi and Oupa Manyisa were some of the best players in the country and alongside Klate, the squad benefited greatly by having soldiers who would go to the ends of the earth for their team.
Also, Klate ticked off all the right boxes in terms of what was required from a Pirates winger. He had pace, skill, trickery and could whip in telling balls.
Having said that, will you miss having the influential Klate in the Bucs squad?
