The great goalkeeper debate at Kaizer Chiefs has been something that has raged since Itumeleng Khune was cleared of injury in December.
Fan Park posed the question to you, the readers, over who you would prefer to see start in goal, and, as expected, there was a heavy divide amongst the fans.
As the game against Bloemfontein Celtic drew nearer, many were questioning whether or not Khune would be given a chance on the night, but it was in fact Brilliant Khuzwayo who kept him at bay.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who recently extended his contract at Chiefs, was handed his first game of 2015, against Siwelele.
The goalless draw meant he managed to keep his eighth clean sheet for Amakhosi this season and extend their unbeaten run to 19 league matches.
It certainly seems that Stuart Baxter has an unwavering trust in Khuzwayo, and if he continues to prove himself as consistent and vital to the club’s cause this season, he could very well be in for a long stay between the sticks.
If this were so, this would undoubtedly inhibit Khune’s game and, possibly, even impact his decision in penning a contract extension at the club…
Who knows – maybe Baxter will spare Khune for the CAF Champions League and use Khuzwayo for the league fixtures.
Khosi fans, how long do you think Khuzwayo will keep Khune out of action?
