How Khune Set The Tone For Chiefs Soweto Derby Victory

Itumeleng Khune may not have started in the most recent Soweto Derby but the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper was arguably one of the club’s most influential players before and after the match. Here’s how Itu rallied his troops. Check it out!

While Khune watched on as Daniel Akpeyi stole all the headlines in Amakhosi’s 1-0 over Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon, the Chiefs veteran had to settle for a different kind of role in the team ahead of the game.

A part of Khune’s influence from afar came in the form of a series of social media posts where he continuously showcased his support of the team ahead of the much anticipated tie.

Not only was Khune setting the mood before the game, he showcased his class by waxing lyrical about his fellow teammate, Akpeyi’s performance.

Khune also preached about being ‘selfess’ as part of a Sunday Motivation post, with many of his fans in awe of the amount support he had been giving the team while playing second fiddle.

Do you think Khune should be starting for Chiefs ahead of Akpeyi?
