Kaizer Chiefs are sitting comfortably at the top of the Absa Premiership table, and one of the main reasons for that is coach Stuart Baxter. Managing to embed a winning mentality into the minds of his Amakhosi troops, Chiefs are taking full advantage of the Englishman’s’ influence at the club.
However, Baxter’s showings have attracted interest elsewhere and he could well depart Naturena as options continue surface. With interest from Turkey, England and now the USA surfacing, Baxter is unlikely to be without options should things go pear-shaped at Chiefs.
Also, Baxter is a man who is well connected in the football world. Just recently, he met up with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to discuss tactics, and the Frenchman even recommended Baxter for a job in the Major Soccer League in the United States.
When jobs are available, agents of coaches generally contact other managers for job recommendations. This has been the case with Wenger recommending Baxter for an MLS move. Baxter is a coach in demand and what Chiefs have to create is an environment for Baxter where he is comfortable to fend off interest elsewhere.
This could mean that Chiefs would have to tie Baxter down to a much bigger and better deal so that he will not be swayed by any interest, and keep his eyes firmly focused on Chiefs.
Should Chiefs do everything in their power to keep Baxter at the club?
