Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with a number of players throughout the season but there are some we have failed to admit shouldn’t be considered of an arrival at Naturena. Today, I look at those…
It is no secret that this Championship winning side is packed with quality but in order to keep up the title-winning standards, new quality needs to be brought in. However, it doesn’t always have to be the players linked with the team week in and week out.
Here are four players who shouldn’t sign for Chiefs…
Ndulula has been linked to the side following his impressive start to the campaign with AmaZulu, where he received a national call-up, but the truth of the matter is that he has scored just four goals this season. With Chiefs experiencing so many goal-scoring problems upfront this season, they need to sign someone who has outscored their own strikers, not someone who has scored less.
The former Ajax Cape Town man has enjoyed a revival to his career this season at Polokwane City and, as such, has been linked with a move to Chiefs. While there is no questioning how he has played a focal point in City’s impressive passing game, this is just one good season Alexander has had. I would like to see him have another good season before signing for Chiefs.
Similarly to Cole Alexander’s situation, Sekola has also had one good season in the top-flight and no one is sure if he is a flash in the pan or not. There is no doubting that 12 goals in the league this season has been impressive, but that is also largely due to the Free State Stars team being built around him. That won’t happen at Chiefs, so perhaps a loan move with an option to make it permanent will be better.
There is no questioning that Vilakazi is one of the best midfielders in the country right now, but in contrast to what Denver Cowzile has said, I believe a move to Chiefs may just be at the wrong time in his career. We have seen on many occasions that players, who are initially pushing for a move to Europe, who arrive at Naturena, never actually land up moving to Europe after that. Vilakazi first needs to test his luck in Europe and if it doesn’t work out he must join Chiefs. By that time, some of the old guard in Yeye, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Willard Katsande may be moving on in age and will need to be rested more regularly.
What do you make about this list? Do you think some of these players should be signed?
