The tide has turned quite a bit for us in the second half of the Absa Premiership season, and things look to be on the up for our beloved Orlando Pirates.
At the beginning of the season, our bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs grabbed the headlines after every game and now it looks as if we have stolen the spotlight somewhat. Here are four areas where we are excelling, and where Chiefs are falling short.
Strikers Are Scoring
Up until now, Chiefs have not sorted out their striking department woes. On the other hand, we have been benefiting from healthy competition between both strikers Lehlohonolo Majoro and Kermit Erasmus.
Depth In Midfield
Chiefs have stuck with the names like Willard Katsande and Reneilwe Letsholonyane in the middle of the park. When separated from each other, the Amakhosi midfield looks thin and packs less punch. I feel our quality is stronger in this regard as whenever the trio of Issa Sarr, Thandani Ntshumayelo and Oupa Manyisa are chopped and changed, we still produce the goods.
We Have A Game Changer
Amakhosi may have quality players coming off the bench, but I feel they do not have a real game changer. Thabo Rakhale has been one of the most talked about South African footballers this season because of his ability to make an impact off the bench, and he is without a doubt a quality game changer.
This may be something dependant on positive results, but there is no denying that we are currently in a much better psychological place than Chiefs.
What other areas do you think Chiefs are lacking in where we as Pirates are excelling at the moment?
