PSV Eindhoven’s talisman Memphis Depay has been linked with an array of big European clubs, such as Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, and here are my reasons why I feel that the Dutch winger should forget the rest and join the Red Devils.
Firstly, the winger has been dubbed as the ‘New Ronaldo’. Which club made Cristiano Ronaldo the superstar he is today? You guessed it.
I feel that a move to Liverpool would be dangerous for Depay, and I’ll even go as far as calling the possibility of that move unexplainable. There is a big chance that Liverpool won’t qualify for Champions League football at the end of the season, so if the 21-year-old wants to be the best – he’s surely got to play against the best.
Liverpool simply don’t deserve Depay, and they’ll probably make another Ryan Babel out of him. Remember when he was Holland’s next best thing? I do, and I also remember how life at Anfield cost him a promising career.
Depay has also been linked with a move to French giants, PSG, but I don’t feel the French league will be the ultimate test for the player.
Yes, Laurent Blanc’s team have some of football’s biggest stars in their ranks, but where would the competition be? Yes, Lyon are currently proving tough for PSG to compete with, but personally I feel that the French league is even weaker than the Dutch Eredivisie.
Depay needs to move to Old Trafford, as I’m sure he’ll be groomed into the Premier League’s brightest stars. He has pace, power and a natural ability to score goals from midfield – something that Louis van Gaal’s side are currently lacking!
The player has scored 27 goals this season, from 38 games in all competitions.
Where do you think Depay should go at the end of the season?
