Footballers Involved In Charity

Footballers earn loads of money every week, but they’re not required to donate any of their earnings, but some do so out of the goodness of their hearts. The Fan Park crew lists five players who are very involved with different charities from around the globe.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Although he is widely regarded as the best footballer in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo does a great amount of charity. In 2014, the Portuguese superstar donated 1.5 million to schools in Gaza by selling the Golden Boot Award he picked up in 2012. He also set up a cancer centre in Madeira and is a brand ambassador for ‘Save The Children’ that assists kids who suffer from hunger and obesity.

Didier Drogba

The Chelsea forward has a charity organization called ‘The Didier Drogba Foundation’ which helps people back in his home country, Ivory Coast, work towards bettering basic necessities. Drogba was also instrumental in ending a civil war in his country – by begging them to get behind their nation at the 2006 World Cup.

Mesut Özil

The German World Cup winner donated every cent of his World Cup earnings to children in Brazil to assist them with their personal medical needs. The sum of money donated was 237.00 pounds.

Dirk Kyut

The former Liverpool player and his wife are the brains behind the ‘Dirk Kyut Foundation’ that works towards the development of underprivileged countries.

Lionel Messi

The Argentinian superstar owns the ‘Leo Messi Foundation’ and is a very active member of UNICEF. He also donates thousands of Euros back to people in his home town who struggle with illness and diseases.

Do you admire these footballers for all they do for charity?
