Today, Fan Park takes a look at some world-class players that Barcelona once had on their books. These players came and went, but their contributions to the club will not be forgotten!
Some like to refer him to the “Real Ronaldo” while others called him “El Fenomeno”. The three-time FIFA World Player of the Year was at Barcelona back in the 1996-1997 season. He made 44 appearances for the club that season and scored 37 goals.
Ronaldinho was strangely Barcelona’s second choice, as they originally wanted David Beckham to join their ranks. Gaucho joined the club in the 2003- 2004 season, and ended up spending five seasons at the club before opting to join AC Milan. He made 198 appearances for the club and scored 91 goals, while assisting in 52 more.
It’s probably one of the high profile signings that the club would actually like to forget about, as the Argentine only made 18 appearances for the club in his one season at the Catalan giants. He joined Barcelona after the 1982 World Cup, but struggled with injury and sickness. In Maradona’s 18 appearances, he managed to score 15 goals for the club.
Arguably one of the best Portuguese players in the modern era, Figo joined the Catalan’s in 1995 and spent five seasons with them before moving off to arch rivals Real Madrid. The Portuguese made 154 appearances for the club and managed to score 30 goals, while assisting in three more along the way.
The now Paris Saint-Germain striker once played for the Catalan’s in his career, but let’s just say things didn’t quite work out as planned. Zlatan moved to Barcelona from Inter Milan in 2009-2010 season and only spent one season at the club. He managed to make 46 appearances for the club, scoring 22 and assisting in a further 13.
