Footballers are known for driving the best cars and living in the biggest houses. Today, we look at a few stars whose homes were broken into or targeted for burglary, including Paul Pogba and Erick Mathoho!
Football stars are often targeted by criminals, and some players have even had their homes broken into while playing huge matches for their clubs.
Paul Pogba's home in Turin was reportedly broken into when he was playing for Juventus last year. The Frenchman was playing a match against Inter Milan at the time of the robbery, and among the things stolen were jewellery and clothes.
Kaizer Chiefs defender Erick "Tower" Mathoho also had his car was stolen in November 2015, and it is unknown as to whether the car was ever retrieved or not.
Wayne Rooney faced a scare in August this year, when it was reported that his house was targeted while he was playing in his testimonial against Everton. The report claimed that a thief wearing a balaclava attempted to get into the England international's house, but thanks to his top-of-the-range security system, alarms went off and the suspect was caught.
Former Roma defender Philippe Mexes also experienced a traumatic ordeal in 2008, when robbers took his car after his wife had left it unattended for a couple of seconds as she carried their son into the house. However, Mexes' daughter was still in the car. Luckily for the player and his wife, their daughter and car were found abandoned.
Our mini-gallery also includes Angel Di Maria, who left Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain after it was reported that his house was broken into. The Argentine never felt safe after the incident, and decided leaving England was best.
Are there any other examples you can think of where footballers were victims of crime?
