With a handful of games having already taken place in 2015, there have been murmurs of coaches already being handed the sack. Today, I look at some tacticians who could get the boot.
Ernst Middendorp (Chippa United)
Tipped to be the first coach to be sacked in 2015, Middendorp has only featured on the Chippa United bench for less than a handful of games and he has already failed to win over the audience. With no win in his three games in charge, there is talk that Mr Chippa will let go of the German coach.
Fani Madida (Moroka Swallows)
With Moroka Swallows having gone through turmoil in the last two seasons, the club is in desperate need of a strong coach to put things right. Fani Madida was expected to be that man following Zeca Marques’ departure, but he has so far failed to meet the standards required of him. With only five wins throughout the current campaign, Madida could well be on his way out too.
Allan Freese (Platinum Stars)
With Stars sitting second from the bottom on the PSL table, the coach’s position on the bench is a rather precarious one. Despite having done well in cup competitions, the league is the competition that secures a club’s fate, and right now they could be taking place in a relegation play-off.
Steve Komphela (Maritzburg United)
Arguably one of the most loved coaches in the country, Komphela has hit a bit of a blip with the Team of Choice of late. With no win in eight matches across all competitions, Komphela could be feeling the heat. Things need to turn around soon for the philosophical coach if he hopes to stay in charge.
Kinnah Phiri (Free State Stars)
While sitting in contention for a relegation play-off spot, the Bethlehem outfit needs to drastically turn things around. Kinnah Phiri’s men have only tasted victory five times this season and have drawn their last three league games. Like the other coaches, the pressure is on!
Which coach do you think will be the first to walk the plank in 2015?
