Respect is an important aspect of football, and it's perhaps something our beautiful game lacks when it comes to players who cheat, and carry themselves in an unprofessional manner. Today the Fan Park crew lists five players who we believe have no respect for football.
It’s clear to see that the Liverpool forward has little respect for the beautiful game. The Italian is always ranting or making controversial statements on social media – knowing well enough that he’ll get in to trouble shortly after. Also, the 24-year-old hardly shows passion. He hardly cracks a smile when he scores, when I feel football should be all about joy! Does Balotelli love the game or is it just a pay cheque for him?
Barcelona’s midfielder is one player who tends to work on everybody’s nerves, isn’t he? Far too often he is asking the referee for an opposition player to be booked, or he is rolling around the floor, crying for attention. Busquets’ deceiving nature leads me to believe that he doesn’t respect the game.
Well, here is a player who has been spoken harshly about in recent years. Why? Because of his impressive diving ability. Perhaps Young was an excellent swimmer - I'm not sure - but one thing is certain, the way in which he has deceived referees in the past is despicable.
The former Arsenal and Real Madrid forward has been in trouble at almost every club he’s represented, and he’s lack of respect for the game has earned him a spot on this list. There have been missed training sessions, offensive celebrations and the early exit from the French team at the 2010 World Cup to mention a few.
Although the Arsenal midfielder has time to clean up his act, as he’s only 23-years-old, Wilshere has shown little respect for the game we love. He’s been caught smoking cigarettes on more than one occasion, and has had several off-field rants that have brought him into the spotlight. I believe he will mature, but his time is ticking.
Can you name any other players who you feel show no respect for the game?
