Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson did a lot of good at the club, but also made some crucial mistakes. He was always thought to be a master of the transfer window, but today the Fan Park Crew brings you his biggest's mistakes in the market.
Kleberson - £6.5m
The Brazilian midfielder was one of Sir Alex’s famous flops back in 2003, and back then he was a big name signing. Kleberson joined the club in the same window as Cristiano Ronaldo, but sadly didn’t prove to be as good. He made 30 appearances for the club and only scored two goals.
Massimo Taibi - £4.5m
The Italian was supposed to be the direct replacement for Peter Schmeichel, but he was nothing less than a failure. The Italian shot-stopper only made four appearances for the Red Devils and conceded 15 goals. He only lasted one season at the club and we can clearly see why!
David Bellion - £3m
The striker was a youngster that Sir Alex had high hopes for, but sadly he just couldn’t kick start his career at the club. He was dubbed the next Thierry Henry when he arrived, but definitely didn’t posses the same speed and skill. He made a whopping 40 appearances for the club and only scored 8 goals.
Anderson - £26m
The Brazilian moved to Old Trafford from Portuguese side Porto and had great potential as a player. There was lots of talk that he would be United’s next Scholes, but that never happened. Later on in his career injuries and weight issues started hampering his playing time and he recently was allowed to leave on a free transfer. Anderson made 179 appearances for the club and only scored nine goals.
Bebe - £7m
The Portuguese was reportedly signed by Ferguson without him even seeing him play, and it was said that they fought off some stiff competition for his services. Bebe was supposed to be the next Ronaldo or Nani, but that clearly wasn’t the case. He only managed to make seven appearances for the club and registered one goal.
Who do you think was Ferguson’s biggest mistake?
