Paris Saint-Germain have wasted no time in signing 16-year-old Dutch wonderkid, Xavi Simons on a three-year deal. The Parisian club announced the deal on their official Twitter account.
“Paris Saint-Germain is happy to announce the arrival of @xavisimons The Dutch midfielder has signed a professional contract until,” PSG captioned the post.
Simons refused a contract worth €200,000 (R3.1 million) a year from Barca as they looked to tie him down on a youth contract.
He is named after Barca’s legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez.
The Dutch starlet is regarded as the ‘most marketable’ teenager in the world and boasts an Instagram following of 1.7 million.
Easily identifiable by his long, curly hair, Simon had a Nike endorsement at the age of 11.
Simons is expected to feature for the French champions in their youth team, which plays in the UEFA Youth Champions League, a junior version of the Champions League.
Do you think that Barcelona will regret letting Simons go?
