It was a reunion of brothers in Baku as Chelsea’s legendary Ghanaian midfielder; Michael Essien recently met up with a former Kaizer Chiefs star.
Essien was in Mzansi recently as part of his ambassadorial duties for international beer maker, Budweiser.
The 36-year-old, who plies his trade for Azerbaijan side FK Sabail, was all smiles as he met up with a heavily-sunburnt Sabah FK midfielder, Hendrick Ekstein.
Essien shared the meet up with Ekstein, who he refers to as his ‘brother’ on Instagram.
“With my South African brother @pule_ekstein_27 wish you all the best and good luck for the season #Baku #Azerbaijan” Essien captioned the post.
Ekstein seems to have adjusted well to life in Baku having registered an assist in his first league match for his new side.
Do you think Hendrick Ekstein will be missed by Chiefs this season?
