Last month I looked at how both Lehlohonolo Majoro and Kermit Erasmus had both suffered a blip in form, with Majoro having not scored in two months and Erasmus a month. However, the latter has since bounced back with goals.
Over the course of the weekend, Orlando Pirates booked themselves safe passage into the third round of the CAF Confederation Cup when Erasmus scored a hat-trick to defeat Mounana 3-0.
It was his first career hat-trick and his fourth goal in two games, to take his impressive tally of goals for the season to 14 strikes.
Erasmus, who dedicated the goals to his daughter and fiancé, has scored one goal more than Majoro but he seems to be coming to the party more regularly in the closing stages of the league.
This is highly crucial for Pirates who are desperate in finding a way to leap frog Mamelodi Sundowns in the final two league games of the season in order to finish second.
With fixtures away to both Maritzburg United and Ajax Cape Town still to play, and with Downs having to face SuperSport United and AmaTuks at home, no slip-ups can occur.
Both Erasmus and Majoro will need to have their goal-scoring boots on fire and I have a feeling that Erasmus will be more instrumental to the club in these final two games.
KE95 has scored two goals against Ajax and United each and has also bagged an assist against those two clubs when facing them, so his record is pretty decent.
Do you think Erasmus could be more important that Major in these final two games?
