Let’s give credit where it’s due, the current crop of Kaizer Chiefs players have done ever so well up until now in the Absa Premiership. Many in the starting XI are at the peak of their powers and enjoyed wonderful form.
However, there are many players who have not pulled their weight at the club and it has impacted the squad negatively. Do we need a set of new players?
For one, we know that the players who are coming off the bench for us are not necessarily going to change the game. That is the job of the substitute, he should possess the ability to add something different if things aren’t working for the starting XI.
I really do feel that we have no game changer at Naturena coming off the bench. When playing at the FNB Stadium, do our fans cheer and chant to the bench for a star getting ready to come on and change the game? No.
This is something I did not want to say but Orlando Pirates have a certain Thabo Rakhale who is praised every single time he is brought on. Fans love him and everything he does with the ball is cheered on by the Bucs supporters.
Yes, we have names like Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Siboniso Gaxa who have adequately been doing the job for years at the club, but there has never really been an adequate replacement coming off the bench for such names.
With that said, is there a need for a new set of quality players at Chiefs?
