With Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates set to square off in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals this weekend, did Mamelodi Sundowns troll the Soweto giants in one of their most recent social media videos? Have a look!
Downs hosted a "6 vs 6" tournament in training this week, and it was the side that included Ricardo Nascimento, Jeremy Brockie, Lyle Lakay, Gaston Sirino, Toni Silva, Jose Ali Meza and Reyaad Pieterse that won what was deemed as the "Coffee Cup".
The Brazilians uploaded a video to their social media accounts of the winning team celebrating, along with a caption that read: "Some play for Mielie Mielie, some for Beer & some for a cow, here's your winners of the Chloorkop 6 vs 6 Coffee Cup! #spectacular #coffeecup."
Check it out!
Fans thus suggested that Downs could be having a sly dig at Kaizer Chiefs for their involvement in the Maize Cup, hence the "Mielie Mielie" reference. Also, in 2015, Chiefs were gifted with a cow by Swazi king Mswati III after participating in a pre-season tournament in Swaziland, hence the reference to the team playing for a cow.
The more obvious mention would be that of the "Beer" reference, which could point to the Glamour Boys and Bucs' participation in the Carling Black Label Cup.
Who do you think is going to win the TKO semi-final between Chiefs and Pirates this weekend?
