Let’s be honest, our fans deserve the best. We are a big club and always have big name players at our disposal. However, some players just do not fare well with a section of the Amakhosi fans.
Former striker Kingston Nkhatha may have done everything right according to himself and the coach while at the club, however, the little short-comings he had was scrutinised by the Boo Boys.
In the same light, striker Siphelele Mthembu has so far not lived up to what’s required of a Chiefs striker, or at least what the boo boys expect a Chiefs striker to be.
Therefore, I have to ask, will Mthembu be the next player to feel the wrath of the Boo Boys?
Shaka Zulu is yet to show that he has what it takes to make the grade at Chiefs. Yes, one may argue that he has not been given a fair run in the team to showcase his talents, but whenever called upon, he failed to show the fans what he has that the other strikers do not have.
To Nkhatha’s credit, he was our first line of defence and no other striker at the club has been able emulate the sheer work-rate and desire to win back the ball in the final third for Amakhosi.
Since Nkhatha’s departure, we looked less of a threat in the striking department and with Mthembu being called on more often, not much has changed.
Against Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League, Mthembu missed an absolute sitter of a chance and it may even come back to haunt us as we will go into the away tie not having a goal to our credit following the 1-0 home loss.
Having said that, do you think it’s only a matter of time before Mthembu becomes a victim of the Boo Boys?
