Kaizer Chiefs pride themselves for always having some of the best young talents in the country on their books. However, as times passes by, these once young and precocious footballers enter the latter stages in their careers but sometimes there is no slowing down... Even for them.
Having said that, the Fan Park crew will now take a look at some of the Chiefs players over the age of 30 and how they have performed this season.
Siboniso Gaxa – 30
The marauding right-back has been solid for Amakhosi this season and seems to be in a slip-stream in his career. Solid in defence and a threat going forward, ‘Pa, as he is known in the South African football family, has been one of Chiefs' most consistent performers in the last couples of seasons.
Reneilwe Letsholonyane – 32
Yeye is like a good wine, he just gets better with age. The holding midfielder is having one of the best seasons for the Glamour Boys, as he is relishing in the number 10 role assigned to him by Stuart Baxter which sees him sit just behind the strikers.
Siphiwe Tshabalala – 30
Shabba may no longer be the wonder kid of South African football, however, he is still adored by millions of local football fans. The dreadlocked left winger continues to shine for Amakhosi despite many players also occupying his position in the team.
Morgan Gould – 31
The powerful centre-back may play second fiddle to both Tefu Mashamaite and Eric Mathoho in defence for Chiefs, however, there is no doubt that when Gould was called upon, he did not let the Amakhosi faithful down.
What other older statesmen at Chiefs do you think deserve a mention?
