Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has shown a great deal of class after finishing behind Lionel Messi in the 2019 Ballon d'Or awards, and was seen in a warm embrace with the Argentine after the famous ceremony. Check it out!
It can be said that Van Dijk was more than happy with his second-spot placing at the awards ceremony, and beared no sour grapes as Messi won the main prize.
That being said, Van Dijk was all smiles before, during and after the award ceremony, and was full of praise for the FC Barcelona great.
The Dutchman has often reiterated how Messi deserves to be labelled as the best player in the world, and after the ceremony, was seen congratulating the record six-time Ballon d'Or winner yet again.
