Calls have been made for Eric Tinkler to be placed on the chopping block following Tuesday’s 2-0 result to Bidvest Wits, but who could come in if Dr Irvin Khoza decides to let him go?
The tactician has done exceptionally well since taking over as interim coach back in December - with ‘interim coach’ being the two key words here.
When Tinkler was announced as the successor to Vladimir Vermezovic, who resigned just before the Soweto Derby, Dr Khoza made it very clear that it was to be until the end of the season.
In hindsight, it was a way to keep the media away until the start of the next campaign, and Khoza is yet to even give his opinion on the 44-year-old, despite leading the club to a 12-match unbeaten run.
Since that first defeat to SuperSport United at the beginning of March, the cookie has crumbled somewhat and Pirates are yet to win a match.
Tuesday’s defeat has seen the fans' mood regarding Tinkler changed and there have been some calls for him to be booted, but who would replace him?
Muhsin Ertugral is a name that was linked to the team from the second VV announced his exit from Parktown, and he has been in the country looking for a possible job.
Ruud Krol & Foppe De Haan are two names that are repeatedly linked to the team. The Dutchmen are familiar with the South African game and would be welcomed at the club, especially the former - given his treble success.
While his name may not have been linked to the club directly, there is no doubting the expertise that Gavin Hunt has on the bench. He has proven at SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits that he can get the best out of any team, and that would certainly be the case at Pirates.
Finally, Steve Komphela is a local coach that the Big Three will certainly be looking at. The philosophical coach has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs in recent times, but the Bucs fans would definitely be eager to have his knowledge on the bench.
Ghosts, who do you think should join… if any?
