AC Milan always used to say that the reason they did so well in Europe was because it was in their DNA, and the same can be said about Orlando Pirates in Africa, but can they go all the way this year?
The Buccaneers ensured qualification into the third round of the CAF Confederation Cup when Kermit Erasmus fired a hat-trick of goals to defeat Mounana 5-2 on aggregate.
It was an impressive win for Eric Tinkler’s side and yet another historic progression into the latter stages of the tournament.
In 2013 Roger De Sa, with Tinkler as his assistant, lead the Sea Robbers all the way to the final of the CAF Champions League and this year they are the only remaining team fro Mzansi competing in Africa.
This is a major feat for the side that were left struggling at the start of the season, and there are whispers from the Ghosts who believe Pirates can go all the way…
While the opponent for the next round is yet to be revealed, it was already analyzed that Pirates could very well have a fairly easy passage through to the final. And with the boys’ confidence growing with each passing game, there is no reason why the fans can’t have faith that such a feat will be mastered.
It certainly seems that Pirates, having won the CAF Champions League in 1005, do have a special affinity to African competitions and they may have the winning recipe too.
Ghosts, do you believe that Pirates will go all the way in Africa?
