For the most part of the Absa Premiership season, Kaizer Chiefs have been using more or less the same starting line-up in their league games. It’s important to know that a number of Chiefs players are nearing the twilight years of their careers.
Coupled with the fact that many are yet to commit their future to the club, could we as Mamelodi Sundowns raid Naturena and sign one or two Chiefs stars?
Naturally, one would think older players will slowly go off the radar after the age of 30, and perhaps a move to a big club like Sundowns in such a late stage could be one last go at the highest level in South African football.
Wage demands from such players may be high but Downs have the resources, so that could be the last of our worries in attracting big name players.
Who then should we perhaps think of luring to Chloorkop from Naturena?
Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite is yet to commit to Amakhosi and while we could be searching for a replacement for captain Alje Schut, he may fit the bill in that regard. Masha is also a player heading into his early thirties and a move to Downs right now may be his last big move.
The rest of the big name players like Itumeleng Khune, Mandla Masango and George Lebese are all yet to commit to their club and in terms of A-grade stars available to sign in South Africa, this could be the best of the best.
Do you think we should go in for some Chiefs players at the end of the season?
