Orlando Pirates seem to hitting form at a crucial stage in the Absa Premiership, as they have won two games on the trot and look a side very much rejuvenated. Players have come and gone in the January transfer window, however, there are a few who have been underutilised.
The Fan Park crew will now take a look at some Buc stars that deserve a little bit more game time.
There is no doubt that ‘Jomo’ has already become a fan favourite amongst the Ghost, and playing from the bench, the skilful winger has often left a lasting impression. He could become a household name for Pirates in the future, provided he becomes a starter.
Currently, Phungwayo shares left-back duties with Thabo Matlaba, however, playing second fiddle to Matlaba meant that Phungwayo often found himself on the bench this season. He rarely disappointed when called upon, and it remains to be seen if coach Eric Tinkler will utilise him more in the second half of the season.
With Diane Klate and Tlou Segolela now gone, Qalinge has the chance to cement his place in the Bucs starting line-up. It’s Bucs tradition to play with out-and-out wingers, and Qalinge can be moulded into a player of Pirates quality.
Bibo may have his work cut out for himself as he competes with Issa Sarr in the middle of the park. His box-to-box abilities have been a valuable asset for Pirates when he was needed to take on the hardman role in the past. Each Bucs fan will no doubt be hoping to see more of Bibo in the near future.
Having said that, what other Bucs stars deserve more game time?
