By now the name Thabo Rakhale is known by many local loving football fans, this because of the skilful nature he plays the game. His name went up in lights not too long ago with an amazing yoyo trick, which got the internet abuzz even on an international stage.
In Orlando Pirates 2-1 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces last night in the Absa Premiership, Jomo once again wowed many fans by scoring a goal straight out of the top drawer.
Having said that, can Rakhale become a household name in South African football or will he become just another flash in the pan?
It’s a sad spectacle seeing some of the most naturally gifted footballers in South Africa not hitting the heights they were destined to reach. Many things can contribute to a talented footballer’s downfall, as the attention, money and fame can ultimately derail a young star.
For this reason alone, we as fans hope Jomo learns from many examples of big name payers in South Africa that have gone off the radar, and applies a serious professional attitude so as to get the best out his budding career.
That’s not to say he should change the way he plays, no. Fans love how he sways about the pitch, showing the crowd all the Diski flicks and tricks.
With the right attitude and frame of mind, nothing can stop Rakhale from becoming a Pirates legend and we hope he could become one of the very few highly talented footballers from South Africa who reach their full potential.
Do you think Rakhale can keep his performances up and become the next big thing in South African football?
