The battle between New Zealand striker Jeremy Brockie and his team, Mamelodi Sundowns continued this weekend after they were embroiled in a social media fracas.
The plot between the striker and the league champions is thickening and there seems to be no end in sight.
As Masandawana are geared up to take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 quarterfinal on Saturday, they released a list of players who were not in the matchday squad due to injury.
The list featured the likes of Anthony Laffor, Emiliano Tade, Oupa Manyisa, Kennedy Mweene, Mauricio Affonso and Brockie.
Brockie then stunned the Twitter streets when he responded to Sundowns’ tweet, stating that he was in fact not injured.
“injury update: I am not injured!” Brockie tweeted.
This left the team with egg on their face and the club immediately deleted the tweet.
The 31-year-old’s struggles at Downs have been well-documented after he failed to replicate the deadly form he displayed at SuperSport United that earned him the nickname ‘Sniper.’
Sundowns won the game 3-1 and advanced to the semi-final, where they are set to take on Brockie’s former team, Supersport.
Do you think Brockie should move on from Mamelodi Sundowns in search of another club?
