Yes, our veterans have been wonderful servants to the club but I feel now is the opportune time to slowly introduce players with potential to ensure that we can adequately replace them.
Reneilwe Letsholonyane has enjoyed a good spell of form this season, playing in a more advance role just behind the striker. This allowed him to express himself fully in terms of going forward and scoring wonderful goals along the way.
Since the return of Bernard Parker, Yeye was slotted back into his more accustomed holding midfield position and has since dropped off the goal-scoring charts. However, I get the feeling that Yeye may not be able to keep up with constantly having to adapt between attacking and defensive positions.
Also, Siyabonga Nkosi has been playing a bit-part role as a second choice midfielder to Letsholonyane in midfield, but at the age of 33, Nkosi has not adequately replaced Yeye when called upon.
Another veteran I feel should slowly be replaced is Siphiwe Tshabalala. He may ooze experience at this stage in his career, but his days of being Amakhosi’s poster boy are slowly coming to an end.
I really hope that soon the Chiefs management look to the future instead of banking on the names that have carried the club for years and years.
Having said that, do you feel our older players are becoming less influential?
