It seems many have forgotten that Kaizer Chiefs enjoyed a brilliant start to the Absa Premiership campaign and are still very much in pole position to win the league this season.
Let’s now take a look at the names that have been at the forefront of it all; the men who had the most influence on the team this season.
In the absence of the injured Itumeleng Khune, Khuzwayo filled the gloves of Itu with consummate ease. Khuzwayo kept the unbeaten run alive on many occasions this season, pulling off some fantastic point-blanks saves in the process. He has definitely been one of the best players at Naturena this season.
Tower has been a key defender so far for Amakhosi this season and has been immaculate alongside Tefu Mashamaite. Mathoho has hardly set a foot wrong and will no doubt continue owning his reputation as one of the best defenders in the country.
As the hard man in midfield, Salt and Vinegar may not get the recognition he deserves at all times, as his dirty work in the middle of the park can go unnoticed at times. However, he has modified his game ever so well this season and has performed admirably alongside Reneilwe Letsholonyane in midfield.
Yeye has been occupying a number 10 role this season, which has bared many fruits in terms of goals and assists for the dreadlocked star. Letsholonyane is showing no signs of slowing down and will remain one the most influential midfielders at the club this season.
