Sir Alex managed some top players in his career at Manchester United, but today the Fan Park crew has decided to focus on the talent he had upfront. Here are some of the best strikers that Alex Ferguson used to the best of their ability.
The World’s best player made his name under Ferguson, after moving to United at the aged of just 17. Fergie was patient with Ronaldo, but knew that the youngster had tremendous potential. Years later he went on to Real Madrid, after scoring 118 goals in 291 games for the Red Devils. Arguably the best player United have ever had!
Sir Alex brought Rooney to the red side of Manchester from Everton in 2004, and went on to become one of the team’s key figures. He brought strength, passion and hard-work to the team, and has since scored 227 goals for the English giants.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
The Dutch forward was relatively unknown before moving to Old Trafford, but quickly became a fan favourite. Van Nistelrooy scored 149 goals in 215 appearances under Sir Alex – a remarkable return from any striker in the EPL, never mind a foreigner.
Better known as ‘Andy’ Cole, the English forward scored 119 goals for Manchester United – all obviously under Sir Alex, and was part of one of the deadliest strike forces to ever grace the Premier League, with his partner in crime, Dwight Yorke.
Robin Van Persie
Although he’s at the bottom of our top five, and not in the best form of late, let’s not forget that the Dutchman singlehandedly won Manchester United the title in the 2012/13 season. He finished as the league’s top goal-scorer that year with 26, giving Sir Alex the perfect sending off.
