With coach Stuart Baxter returning to Naturena, we throw it back to the 2014/15 campaign, when Kaizer Chiefs last won the league under the Englishman. Check it out!
What’s the story?
It can be said that Baxter is a popular figure among Chiefs fans, with him being the last coach to bring the league title to Naturena.
The club will be hoping to do better than their 8th place DStv Premiership finish in the 20/21 PSL campaign, with Baxter bringing back a wealth of experience to the club in the process.
Its been six years since Amakhosi tasted league silverware, with Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns being the only sides lifting the trophy since Baxter’s departure.
On Top Of The Pile
The 2014/15 season was one of the most memorable for Amakhosi fans in recent years, with Baxter and his side winning the league in stunning fashion.
Chiefs ended their title-winning campaign 12 points ahead of Sundowns, who finished second while also claiming the MTN8 trophy in the process.
Instead of having one or two players whom they relied on for goals, the goal-scoring responsibilities were distributed across the board. George Lebese, Bernard Parker and Mandla Masango ended the league season as the club’s top scorers, each scoring seven apiece.
In midfield, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane ended the league campaign as the top assist makers with seven and six, respectively.
