Before there was Hlompho Kekana, Mamelodi Sundowns had a title-winning captain, in the form of Alje Schut who bossed things for the Chloorkop-based outfit.
The 39-year-old is currently scouting and coaching for former team FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The defender played a vital role, in leading Masandawana to their first Absa Premiership title in six years in the 2014/15 campaign.
Schut also enjoyed a stellar send-off when he helped Sundowns clinch the Nedbank Cup in what was his last season in Mzansi.
Elegant in the tackle and aerially gifted, Schut would often times stay up field if Pitso Mosimane’s men were in dire need of a goal.
The Dutchman recently visited Mzansi, although his motivational message could not help Downs overcome Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
What are your fondest memories of Schut in Sundowns colours?
