The Vodacom Challenge has brought some of the fondest pre-season memories to South African football lovers, and Itumeleng Khune recently threw it back to the time Kaizer Chiefs shone against Tottenham Hotspur. Check it out!
Whenever the likes of Spurs or Manchester United visited South Africa, particularly to partake in the Vodacom Challenge, a collective buzz was often created by local fans.
Football lovers were excited at the prospect of seeing their favourite local players testing themselves against some of Europe's hottest stars. One such footballer who thrived under the challenge was Khune, who recently remembered the 2011 Vodacom Challenge.
For the pre-season tournament, Spurs brought a full-strength squad to Mzansi, including the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and even SA's very own Bongani Khumalo and Steven Pienaar.
Amakhosi walked away as victors on the day, with George Lebese's 93rd minute winner being the difference in a 1-0 win at a packed Peter Mokaba Stadium.
That being said, "Itu" recently took to Instagram to post some images from the 2011 spectacle, along with the caption: "#TBT Who remembers this save against Peter Crouch at Peter Mokaba's Stadium?? #@kcfcofficial VS Tottenham Hotspur."
