What’s the story?
It can be said that the 25-year-old has made a name for himself in local football, becoming one of the most saught-after players while plying his trade for SSU. Now at Downs, Mokoena followed the likes of Denis Onyango, Hlompho Kekana and more recently, Grant Kekana who made the move from Matsatsantsa.
Big Move
Mokoena joins a star-studded Sundowns team and a packed midfield department, that also saw Erwin Saavedra being added to the roster. The Bolivian is expected to arrive at the club in February and is said to come in with a big reputation.
On Mokoena’s arrival, fans have been divided on the former SuperSport star’s move to Chlrookop. Judging by reactions on social media, some fans feel that Downs could be a springboard to a potential move to Europe, while others go along the ‘career suicide’ dialogue.
New Look
Nonetheless, fans have been getting used to seeing Mokoena in Downs colours as the midfielder recently took to his Instagram account and posted an image of himself at the Chloorkop training grounds.
The star man also showcased how he held up the Downs jersey, with his smile indicating his elation at joining the reigning DStv Premiership champions.
