After what was not the best of seasons for Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, we take a look at five positive moments the veteran enjoyed in the past campaign.
Khune missed the bulk of the 2019/20 season due to injury, and saw teammate Daniel Akpeyi take charge between the sticks in the interim. With more time on his hands as a result, here are some of the more positive moments "Itu" had in the season past.
Popping The Question
In November 2019, Khune's fiancee Siphelele Mak revealed that the Ventersdorp-born star had paid lobola for her hand in marriage, with the couple taking the next step in their relationship. At the time, the news all but broke the internet as fans showed their love and support of the Khunes-to-be.
Becoming A Dad
At the same time, Khune hinted at a bun in the oven after he uploaded an image of himself caressing her belly. Itu deleted that image soon thereafter as it quickly spread among fans on social media. Earlier this year, though, the couple welcomed their bundle of joy into the world.
Hinting At Business Pursuits
Itu also hinted at the possibility of becoming an entrepreneur one day, after uploading an image of Cristiano Ronaldo highlighting the Juventus man's business dealings away from football. Itu was also seen wearing "Distribution 101" clothing, which could well suggest that he is starting his own clothing brand.
Recovering From Injury
After months of being on the touchline, the Bafana Bafana star returned to first team action during the team's stay in the Bio Bubble, and he will now have the chance to reclaim his spot between the posts.
Being An Inspiration
While injured, Khune never stopped being an inspiration to his teammates. He often took to Instagram to show his support, and was one of the first teammates to salute fellow goalkeeper Akpeyi after his Derby Day heroics earlier this season.
