"Vila" has often expressed how he drew inspiration from basketball great Kobe Bryant, who also underwent some jersey number changes in his illustrious career.
After changing his shirt number from 8 to 24, "The Black Mamba", as Bryant was fondly known, attributed the switch to his growth and maturity levels, and also explained that it was the number he used during his high school playing days.
Much like Kobe, Vila has endured a number of nasty injuries in his career, and has stated in the past that he would like to emulate the basketball legend's ability to return to the game as if nothing happened.
With Vilakazi having made his return from his latest injury in Downs' victory over TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership earlier this week, he took to Twitter to write: "CameBack as 24."
