What’s the story?
As mentioned, Broos gave the final list of SA ballers that will take on Zimbabwe and Ghana in back-to-back World Cup qualifiers next month. Initially, the mentor announced a squad of 31 players, however, the team was then trimmed down to 23.
Road To Qatar
The games against the abovementioned sides will see Broos on the touchline for the first time, as he looks to guide the team to the showpiece that will be held in Qatar.
Regarding the squad, Broos named a young squad and included a number of experienced campaigners such as Percy Tau, Ronwen Williams and Thapelo Morena.
Star Exclusions
It can be said that supporters had much to say about his selection and took to Twitter in voicing their opinions about the side. A fan questioned Mamelodi Sundowns star, Lyle Lakay’s exclusion, given that he has been deemed one of, if not the best left-back in the country at the moment.
Another name that frequently popped up in the comments section is that of Kaizer Chiefs youngster, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, with many feeling that the 21-year-old deserved a call-up.
