Five years ago, Lionel Messi ended Jerome Boateng’s career with one of the most filthy pieces of skill in recent years. The German defender has however clapped back at his trolls.
Every 5th of May is a day that haunts the Bayern Munich defender.
It marks the day that a Lionel Messi-inspired Barca side ran rampant, cruising to a 3-1 victory over the Germans.
However, it was the Messi’s second goal in particular that stood out. In true Messi style, the Argentine darted towards Boateng before chopping across his right, leaving the defender on the floor, before placing a deft chip over a hapless Manuel Neuer.
Barca went on the win the competition after beating Juventus 3-1 in the final.
Boateng was quick to remind his trolls that the year before, it was he who got one over Messi's Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final, which was enough to silence his haters.
"Here you go - something to laugh these tough days. I'll get some popcorn meanwhile ... and watch World Cup final 2014 afterwards," Boateng tweeted,
"You can stop tagging me now I know it's 5 years today," he wrote.
