Over the course of his career, Anele Ngcongca crossed paths with some of the world's best players, so we had a look at the late star's coolest moments alongside some superstars of the game.
The former Genk and Mamelodi Sundowns defender tragically died in a car accident in the early hours of Monday morning, sending shockwaves throughout the local football fraternity. It's been reported that the accident happened in KwaZulu-Natal and that the 33-year-old had been in Durban since last week to join AmaZulu in a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns.
That being said, the right-back plied the bulk of his trade abroad, having played for Belgium side Genk between 2007 and 2016. Ngcongca also had a short spell with French side Troyes before returning home to Mzansi.
It was during his time in Belgium that he rubbed shoulders with players who went on to become leading stars of the beautiful game. The defender shared a close friendship with Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and often shared images of himself and the Belgium international on his social media handles.
He was also pictured alongside Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who played with the former Sundowns star at Genk between 2009 and 2011. Ngcongca also collected a jersey from Napoli and Senegal star Kalidou Koulibaly, who is currently deemed by many to be one of the best defenders in the world today.
