“If the virus don't go to Zlatan, Zlatan goes to the virus!"
Melodramatic Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimović has done his bit to help curb the scourge of the Coronavirus outbreak by launching a fundraiser to help hospitals in Italy.
The striker started off by donating R1.8 million from his own pocket
The country where Zlatan plies his trade for AC Milan has so far been worst affected by the pandemic other than China.
Taking to Instagram in pure Zlatan style, the 38-year-old shared a video where he urges fans and colleagues to donate, so that the disease can be kicked “away”.
"Italy has always given me so much and, in this dramatic moment, I want to give back even more to this country that I love," he added.
"I count on the generosity of my colleagues, of all professional athletes and of those who want to make a small or large donation according to their possibilities, to kick this virus away.”
