Football's Most Charitable Stars

Football's Most Charitable Stars

Footballers lead extremely busy lives, but there are many players who've taken the time to give back to charities. Check out some of the game's most charitable stars.

Two years ago, Cristiano Ronaldo was named the world's most charitable sportsperson, having donates millions of his earnings to different causes around the world. Despite coming across as slightly arrogant at times, the Portuguese has proven to have a heart of gold.

Neymar is another footballer who often donates to charity, while African superstar Didier Drogba has his own foundation that allows him to give back to the people of his home country, Ivory Coast.

Drogba's call for peace in 2006 led to the end of a five-year civil war in his country of birth, which perhaps shows just how much he cares for his people.

Controversial striker Mario Balotelli has made many negative headlines during his time in the limelight, but it has been said that the forward donates half of his salary to various charities.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was believed to have donated his 2014 FIFA World Cup winning money to Brazil in 2014, while Lionel Messi is an active member of UNICEF.

The FC Barcelona talisman often gives back to people in Argentina, and even reconstructed his childhood club's old grounds.
