He was the captain at his former club
During his time with Slovakian side FC Pohronie, Nurkovic was not only the star player of the team, but he often took up the club captaincy.
Kaizer Chiefs made a mistake during his unveiling
Nurkovic was among four signings unveiled by Kaizer Chiefs at the start of the season alongside Lazarous Kambole, Kearyn Baccus and James Kotei. Although Amakhosi made a blunder on the striker’s unveiling jersey, spelling it as ‘Nurcovic’ instead of Nurkovic, it was rectified when he made his debut against Highlands Park.
Jersey numbers during his career
The lanky Serbian dons the jersey number 9 for Amakhosi, but throughout his nomadic career, he donned number 22, 10, 13 and 14 for his respective clubs.
He hails from a small town
The striker was born on 13 June 1992 in Tutin, a town and municipality located in the Raška District of the south-western Serbia. According to a 2011 census, the municipality of Tutin has a population of just 31,155 people.
He is quite the journeyman
Despite being just 27, Nurkovic has played for 10 different clubs, with Kaizer Chiefs being the 11th. The striker has played in countries such as Serbia, Austria, Slovakia and South Africa.
He is health-conscious
Nurkovic prides himself on his health and was recently spotted visiting his Chiefs teammate Bernard Parker’s wellness store, where he received a sports massage. The likes of Ramahlwe Mphahelele are also regulars.
Religion comes first
Nurkovic is proud of Islamic faith, as seen on his Instagram posts, where he notes his goals with the Arabic caption Alhamdulillah - an Arabic phrase meaning 'praise be to God', sometimes translated as "thank God."
Biggest defeat of his career
The biggest defeat of his career came in the 2015/16 season while on the books of FK Phoroni. They were thumped 6-1 by FC Nitra and ironically, Nurkovic scored the only goal of the match for his side that day.
