One of Manchester City's star midfielders is reportedly edging closer to securing a move to Barcelona.

Having been Pep Guardiola's first signing at the Etihad Stadium, it seems that after seven years at the club, Ilkay Gundogan could soon be calling time on his career with the Citizens.
According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, the Germany international's agent Ilhan Gundogan, who is also his uncle, was in Catalonia on Friday morning to meet with the Barca executive of Mateu Alemany, Jordi Cruyff, Enric Masip and Franc Carbo to discuss the 2014 FIFA World Cup star's future.
The 32-year-old's contract in the north-west of England expires at the end of this season, and the Blaugrana see the versatile midfielder as a top target.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou for much of this campaign, and with contract talks at City now looking unlikely to resume, it seems a move to the home of the LaLiga league leaders is becoming more of a reality.
Gundogan's uncle also represents Andreas Christensen and having successfully negotiated the Dane's move from Chelsea to Barca last year, he is believed to be in good standing with the Spanish club's hierarchy.

While the City captain has not been finding the back of the net with the same regularity he did last season, he is still one of the top performers in the Premier League, as illustrated by his assist for Jack Grealish's goal against Arsenal earlier this week.
Blaugrana boss Xavi Hernandez appears to be a big admirer of Gundogan, and it is looking more and more likely he will be a Barca player come the 2023/24 campaign.
